He was killed by crossfire between Muslim and Croat warring factions in Gornii Vakuf, on 13th January 1993. At the time of the incident he was the driver of the lead Warrior vehicle escorting an aid convoy through the town of Gornji Vakuf, where heavy fighting was taking place between Muslim and Croat forces. He was the first British soldier to be killed in Bosnia. The Elizabeth Cross was presented to Lance Corporal Edwards' sister Kimberly.

The inscription on the memorial says: "The cry of battle fills the wind. And the blood of lads mingles with the rain. We will remember them".
Lieutenant Colonel Nick Lock, Commanding Officer 1st Battalion The Royal Welsh said: "The ceremony at the home of l Royal Welsh was a fitting occasion to honour the three servicemen who lost their lives on operations, or to terrorism
The Elizabeth Cross and Memorial Scroll serve as recognition of sacrifices made for which the country owes a great debt. For the families receiving them, I hope they will wear the emblem with pride and that they then pass it on to future generations."

Province of Shropshire celebrates 125 years.
125th Anniversary of the foundation of the Province of Shropshire.
On Saturday 23rd October 2010 our Provincial Grand Master, RW Bro. Ieuan Redvers Jones accompanied by W. Bro. Peter J. Sorahan, P.A.G.D.C., Provincial Grand Secretary, attended as guests of RW Bro. James McAllister Hodgson, Provincial Grand Master of Shropshire, at a Meeting of the Salopian Lodge of Charity No. 117.
This was to celebrate the 125th Anniversary of the foundation of the Province of Shropshire on the 22nd October 1885. Previously to this date the Province had been linked in partnership with the Province of North Wales since the 13th of April 1791.
Because of the strong historical links between the two Provinces and the close amity which still continues our Provincial Grand Master was invited to propose the toast to the Province of Shropshire at the Festive Board following the Lodge Meeting.
An article appeared in a recent Edition of the Shropshire Magazine which mentions this event written by Neil Thomas a journalist and non-Mason - which from an unbiased source is refreshingly supportive of the Craft and its Aims and Object.
As referred to in the article our RW Provincial Grand Master in his toast maintained the long tradition of the good natured banter now taken for granted between the two Provinces whilst expressing his earnest good wishes for the health and prosperity of the Province of Shropshire and particularly the happy state of amity existing between the two Provinces. N. Wales Freemasons continue support for Air Ambulance
North Wales Freemasons have presented Wales Air Ambulance with a further grant of £4,000 from their national charity, The Freemasons' Grand Charity. The generous donation is part of more than £½ million donated by the Charity, providing funding to every air ambulance in England and Wales during the past four years.
Flying over 19,000 missions every year and costing millions of pounds, air ambulances are considered to be the busiest voluntary service in the country. The money to fund this important work is met almost entirely by donations from organisations like North Wales Freemasons and the public.
In addition to the donation, North Wales Freemasons have today launched their very successful Teddies for Loving Care (TLC) Scheme into North Wales Air Ambulance. The TLC Scheme provides a small cuddly teddy bear to children under the age of seven years who are patients being transported to hospital when the Paramedics feel that a soft cuddle toy will help alleviate their distress.
The TLC scheme is funded solely through the fundraising activities of North Wales Freemasons and is also operating very successfully in the Accident and Emergency Units at all three major hospitals in North Wales.
Speaking about the donation and introduction of the TLC Scheme, the Provincial Grand Master of North Wales - Ieuan Redvers Jones said: "Air Ambulances play an important role in ensuring people get the medical help they need as quickly as possible. For those in life threatening situations this can dramatically improve their chance of survival.
The Teddy Bear scheme which is already highly valued by nursing staff at the Accident and Emergency Units at all three major hospitals allows us to make a practical contribution to the community and provides a further opportunity for us to put before the public one of our important principles, in a discreet and meaningful way.
North Wales Masons and The Freemasons' Grand Charity are delighted to once again be supporting Wales Air Ambulance and contributing to the continued provision of this excellent service."

Would you like to join Freemasonry?
People might think that to become a Freemason is quite difficult. It's actually straightforward. The essential qualification for admission is that you have a belief in a Supreme Being.
It is usual for candidates to be "mature men of 21 years and over", but in some circumstances candidates between the ages of 18 and 21 can be admitted.
After reading the information on this page, if you are still interested in becoming a Freemason, we advise that you first talk to a family member, friend or colleague whom you already know to be a member.
They will be able to explain to you what they can about the fraternity and help you find a suitable Lodge.

The North Wales Freemasons Stand at the Denbigh and Flint Show
The North Wales Freemasons' Stand at the Denbigh and Flint Show proved to be very successful on the day and worthy of repeating again next year.

Everyone who called at our stand, including the Parliamentary Under Secretary for State for Wales, David Jones MP and Mrs Jones expressed their admiration for the effort put into the displays, their hearty support for the work depicted and their hopes and good wishes that we would continue to raise public awareness of the extensive charitable works undertaken by Freemasons.
This favourable response would not have come about without the efforts of the "Show Team" and their professional approach to this Project. W. Bro Gerald Edwards and W. Bro. Peter Sorahan conveyed their appreciation to all the team for their contribution to the success of the day.
As to measurable outcomes we have one prospective candidate living locally who expressed an interest in joining the Craft. Some three others asked for a business card to enable them to contact Hywel Wyn Jones by E Mail and several more took photographs of the displays with the intention of passing them on to their own Provincial Office as an exemplar of good practice in raising public awareness of our work and encouraging a similar approach in their own areas.

Click on a picture to temporarily stop the rotation.
Even those who browsed only briefly, or noticed us in passing, would have taken note of our presence at the show and conclude that we did not conform to their previously held view that we were a secretive organisation which avoided the public’s gaze and scrutiny.

The first condition of admission into, and membership of, the Order is a belief in the Supreme Being. This is essential and admits of no compromise.
The Bible, referred to by Freemasons as the Volume of the Sacred Law, is always open in the Lodges. Every Candidate is required to take his Obligation on that book or on the Volume which is held by his particular creed to impart sanctity to an oath or promise taken upon it.
Everyone who enters Freemasonry is, at the outset, strictly forbidden to countenance any act which may have a tendency to subvert the peace and good order of society; he must pay due obedience to the law of any state in which he resides or which may afford him protection, and he must never be remiss in the allegiance due to the Sovereign of his native land.
